How to Borrow Airtime/Credit from MTN, GLO, Airtel & 9mobile

Everyone has run out of airtime once or twice in their lifetime with no way to recharge your phone. Either it’s the middle of the night or you are stranded somewhere with no place to get airtime from and usually the network is bad and you can’t recharge from your bank account. Luckily for mobile phone users, the Nigerian network providers have offered a solution to this problem. Users can now borrow airtime from their network providers and payback when it is convenient. On this post, we would be discussing how to borrow airtime on the various networks. These are Glo, Airtel, MTN and 9Mobile.

How to Borrow Airtime on MTN

  1. Borrowing airtime on MTN is a very easy process. First dial *606#. You will receive a message prompt which tells you if you meet the criteria for borrowing airtime.

If you are eligible, you will receive a message in the following format:

  • Eligibility Status
  • Request Airtime (XtraTime)
  • Request Data (Xtra Byte)
  • XtraTime Balance
  1. Simply, choose the Request Airtime option
  2. Next, choose the amount of credit you wish to borrow. You will be credited within seconds.

P.S: Normally, MTN charges about 15% of the total value of the airtime requested. This fee is deducted from your next recharge.

How to Borrow Airtime on 9Mobile

  1. Dial *665# or *665*amount#. A menu will pop-up and you will see the following options.
  • Get the highest amount you can borrow
  • Choose Loan Amount
  • Check Eligibility
  • Check Loan Balance
  • Deactivate Loan
  • Activate Loan
  1. Select any of the options and follow the on-screen instructions from there.

How to Borrow Airtime on Glo

  1. Dial *321# then create a four-digit code of your choice, e.g. 0923
  2. Borrow the airtime by pressing *321* code*amount you want to borrow. For instance: *321*1234*100#
  3. Within a few seconds, you will receive the credit.

How to Borrow Airtime on Airtel

  1. First, dial *500*amount#. Using this service, you can borrow as much as N500 worth of airtime at once

P.S: All the networks charge a service charge, the charge is usually between 10 to 15% depending on the network. For example, MTN has a service charge of 15% which means you will be credited with #185 if you request for #200 credit.
